From Salem to Cambridge
Happy 4th of July!!!
I woke up from a very interesting dream. I dreamt that I was doing Once Upon a Mattress again with Hilhi. The only difference was that we weren’t doing it at Hilhi; however we were using the Hilhi stage. Also, we were really unorganized. The set was different, the costumes weren’t complete, and we weren’t ready to perform. However, we were performing that night. I remember I was freaking out, as usual. Then I woke up to Dad telling us we needed to go.
Today we drove around Salem, Mass. It was really neat to see this town. We visited the Salem Witch Museum. There we saw a presentation about the events that took place there. It was really cool. I saw many familiar names….like Rebecca Nurse, John Proctor, Elizabeth Proctor, Sarah Good, etc. Many names were changed for the purposes of the play. Like Ann Putnam was actually the daughter, instead of Ruth. Other peoples’ ages were changed too. Like Mercy Lewis was actually 20 and Abigail Williams was actually 9. Interesting enough, she did accuse John Proctor of witchcraft. When he took the stand to defend his wife, Abigail cried out that he was harming her. I love learning interesting things like this. After Salem, we took a drive to Peabody, where the Proctor farm used to be. I say used to be because now there are houses everywhere. Don’t worry; there are a few memorials for John that are placed on his used to be property.
From here, we continued towards Cambridge; to our hotel. We finally made it. Then we decided to take a walk a long the Freedom Trail, a self-serve walking tour around Boston. On the tour, we saw Paul Revere’s house, the Old North Church, and the Park Street Church, among other things. It was fun.
I forgot to mention one thing I did while at Niagara Falls. For the first time I ate at the Hard Rock Café. The food was pretty good. I even knew most of the songs they played.
Today, while on our Freedom Trail tour, a guy was giving out a new Coke product. This product was called “Coca-Cola Blak.” Any guesses as to what the new flavor is? That’s right…..coffee. Surprising. You think it’d be really gross. Well….I liked it. I mean, I hate Coke…absolutely hate it. Even with cherry flavor. However, with a little bit of coffee I ended up liking it. Mom and Dad didn’t like it, so I had their bottles (we had only gotten 2). It’ll be interesting to see what you guys think of this new Coke product.
The fireworks tonight were amazing. The best I have ever seen. I mean it. I can’t even begin to explain how wonderful they were. I am very jealous that Alison and Katie get to spend their college years here. They have to stay for the fireworks. If they don’t…well they’ll be missing out. The fireworks were amazing!!!!
Well….that’s about it. I’ll see you guys in 2 days!!
